After a hiatus of several months, The Chart is officially back, and just like the last re-launch, Relient K tops the chart. This time, they capture the #1 spot with "Give Until There's Nothing Left", a fan favorite that got just enough airplay to carry it over the top. Lining up behind them are Casting Crowns, David Crowder Band and Plumb, respectively. All of those songs are doing well on radio, and also had a solid week in the voting. Rounding out the top 5 is tobyMac's, "I'm For You", the #1 song in overall airplay this week.
Just outside the top 5, Skillet lands at #6 with "Comatose", as they are also the only artist with three songs on the top 40. ("The Last Night" and "The Older I Get" also made top 40 this week.) Also in the top 10 this week are fan favorites Switchfoot, Natalie Grant and Anberlin. Additionally, former American Idol contestants, Daughtry and Mandisa turn in impressive shows as they check in at #7 and #12, respectively. Just lurking outside the top 10 are veteran acts Caedmon's Call and Steven Curtis Chapman, who parlay strong weeks in voting to the #11 and #13 positions, respectively.
Even though this was a bit of light week in terms of votes, those of you who did vote helped boost a few songs onto the top 40. Most notably, Leeland's "Tears of the Saints" and downhere's "The Real Jesus" check in at #15 and #27, respectively, despite not appearing on any National airplay charts this past week. Another key beneficiary of your votes was Relient K's "I Need You", which comes in at #18.
As always, you are encouraged to vote for your favorite songs every week! Please get your votes in before Noon Pacific Time (3 PM Eastern) on Sunday to ensure they will count for the next week. Let's see if we can get more participation this upcoming week! The next issue of the chart will be for September 24 (two Mondays from now.) Please also remember to vote for at least five (5) songs.
Have a Blessed week!
