Danny Liston to Appear on 700 Club

Danny Liston, veteran southern rock artist, recently filmed for a segment with The 700 Club, to air worldwide on the Christian Broadcasting Network on Tuesday, December 2, 2008.  Signed to Above Entertainment / Koch Distribution, Danny released his solo debut, No Other Name earlier this year.  Showcasing his undeniable ability as a multi-faceted musician, singer and songwriter, No Other Name is a collection of soulful worship songs and sincere lyrics. This sound caught the ears of the network, but his story of rock and roll, redemption and restoration made the story that much more interesting.

Danny is best known as the front man for the seminal southern rock band “Mama’s Pride.”  Known as one of the most influential and hardest working bands in the genre, Liston spent much of the 1970s and 80s touring the country and living the rock and roll lifestyle.  This included an ongoing battle with drugs and alcohol. His wife never left his side and she spent eight years praying before his life was transformed.

Since his life was changed by grace, Liston has a new focus, spreading the love of Jesus not only with his signature sound, but through his work with Service International.  Service International is a global disaster relief ministry which acts as a support agency for missionaries and charitable organizations, as well as immediate relief across the U.S. to victims of natural disasters.  A portion of the proceeds from No Other Name goes to benefit Service International to assist in their worldwide efforts.

His album No Other Name, produced by Jim Gaines (Carlos Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Journey), is the story of Danny’s journey, and his transformation that could only come from his life in Jesus.  His song “Change the World” has become the theme song for Service International, encouraging others to step out and make a difference to the hurting and helpless people around us.
In addition to the great success of the Change The World record, the video for the single “Change The World” has also been chosen by thousand of viewers and fans as a potential winner of the Best Gospel/Christian Music Video of the Year in Rock, Pop, Country, Soul, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Latin Categories.

The GMCVAs honor the top videos in seven genre categories as well as the overall Top Video of the Year with winners being determined by viewers and fans through online voting on the GMC website.

Category finalists: Danny Liston "Change the World," David Phelps "No More Night," Steven Curtis Chapman "Cinderella," Hip Hop T-Bone "Name Droppin'," Lecrae "Prayin For You."

The Gospel Music Channel Video Awards winners will be announced on Gospel Music Channel Friday, Dec. 26 at 8:00 p.m. (ET) with encores of the awards show airing through New Year's Day.

Gospel Music Channel is the nation's first and only 24/7 television network devoted to the uplifting, inspiring and diverse music that is gospel/Christian music.
