World Vision Works WIth Anthony Evans Toward 3,000 Children

While singer and songwriter Anthony Evans continues to tour this fall promoting his third CD The Bridge (EMI Gospel), he has also been able to personally embark on a long time passion - to help those in need.

This summer, Evans worked with hundreds of families attending Pine Cove, a Christian camp located in his home state of Texas. Pine Cove - near to Evans' heart since he was a camper there during his youth - offers fun-filled yet life-changing experiences for people of all ages. His time there over the course of this summer allowed Evans to share his music ministry, as well as to develop awareness in all of the families for children in need, specifically through the organization World Vision.

The attending families learned that through World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice (www.worldvision.org), they could sponsor their very own child, specifically from Ethiopia. According to Evans, the participation was overwhelming, so much so that several chose to sponsor as many children as they had in their own families. In all, an astounding 400 children were sponsored, proving that an entire community in Ethiopia is now impacted due to these efforts.

"My passion for this organization deepened considerably when they allowed me the opportunity to go and spend a day with my sponsored child, Forget," states Evans.  "There aren't words to explain what it meant to sit with him, a young boy's life of which is now changed because of a very small sacrifice. It is my honor and privilege to give my audiences the opportunity to make a world of difference in the life of a child."

Last fall while summer plans were in the works for Evans to work at Pine Cove, Evans shared with World Vision his wish to personally meet the child he directly sponsors, a vibrant 7-year old boy named Forget. World Vision took Evans up on that offer and last October, Evans flew to Malawi to unite with Forget (photo above). Having the opportunity to personally meet this amazing young boy gave Evans a newfound passion to help this organization.

Since his partnership with World Vision began in 2006, Evans has acquired 3,084 sponsorships for children all over Africa. These children are part of World Vision's "Hope Child Initiative," the program focusing specifically on children living in areas heavily impacted by HIV/AIDS. Through opportunities such as Pine Cove, tour stops this fall and beyond, E
