Billy Graham Radio Station Receives $1,850,000 in Two-Day Fundraiser
|
BLACK MOUNTAIN, NC - 106.9 the Light WMIT ended its annual Sharathon (October 3-4, 2006) by raising over $1.85 million…and counting. In just two days, 106.9 the Light received the support from 4,167 listeners who called or pledged on-line. Ten percent of all support received, at least $185,000, is directed to Radio Al-Mahabba (Arabic for “Radio Love”). This sister station of 106.9 the Light reaches into North Africa and the Middle East with Christian music and teaching to the Arabic speaking world.
Praise & Prayer Day kicked off Sharathon 2006 on Monday, October 2. Ministry staff and volunteers received calls from listeners who shared prayer requests for issues in their lives and praises of how God has blessed them.
“Our team at 106.9 the Light is overflowing with gratitude for the sheer heart for giving to God’s work. To think over 4,100 people gave their financial support to the tune of $1.85 million dollars in order to support the work God is doing here is simply stunning.” said Jim Kirkland, General Manager of 106.9 the Light WMIT. Kirkland added, “We’re thrilled that our sister station will benefit from our listeners’ love by the gift of nearly $200,000 we’ll be able to make to Radio Al-Mahabba.”
Counting is on-going of gifts to Sharathon. The final tally will be released on-air once the total is complete.
Founded by Billy and Ruth Graham in 1962, 106.9 the Light WMIT’s mission is to lead as many people as possible into a personal and dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ.
