SCORE

All mention of Jake was recently removed from the website of Reunion Records, where the trio has released its first two albums. Fueling speculation that something was up with the group was the fact that jakemusic.com, the band's website, was suddenly shut down without warning right around the same time. But don't worry; all is well in Jake-land. More or less.

Insider sources tell CMCentral.com that Jake's contract with Reunion Records ran out right about the same time that the band was involved in a dispute with another band over the rights to the name 'Jake.' Reunion was reportedly forced to take down all mention of the band to avoid any legal entanglements of its own. It's uncertain how the dispute was resolved, although things took a positive turn for the trio yesterday when jakemusic.com was re-opened with an upgraded design. The new site includes a section for online ordering of all official swag and music, which the Penner boys are now handling in a personal, "independent artist" kind of way.

Further adding to the speculation is the fact that the name 'Jake' is rarely used on the new website, with the term 'Jakemusic' frequently substituted instead. Does this mean that Jake has changed its name? Only the band knows for sure.

In related news, the guys announced yesterday their first cross-Canada headlining tour, The Brighter Tour, which will hit 43 cities across Canada this Fall. Winnepeg rock band Starfield will be the opening act. The full tour itinerary can be found at www.jakemusic.com.
