John Reuben a big hit at college radio
|
John Reuben recently had his latest album, Hindsight, serviced to mainstream college radio stations. After only one week at radio, the album was the #2 most added hip-hop record in the country (even beating out The Roots) according to the CMJ New Music Report.
Reuben has followed-up this week by returning strong on the hip-hop most adds list at #5, and in just two weeks has accumulated 29 hip-hop adds and 41Top 200 adds, and is expected to chart next week. Overall, it seems hip-hop radio is really feelin' it with comments from this week’s report including:
"Added for medium -- best white boy rapper I've ever heard" - WBWC, Ohio
"Reuben's rockin' -- I've seen Reuben before at shows in Ohio" - WLHS, Ohio
"That was interesting actually -- Added" - CRAM, Toronto
"Ohh... I love it" - KSCL, Oregon
Reuben’s independent radio promotions are being handled by The Planetary Group, which also represents De La Soul, N.E.R.D., and Ben Folds. Says The Planetary Group’s Justin Nardin, “John Reuben's Hindsight is having an amazing response from the college radio panel already. Both hip-hop and alternative music directors and programmers have jumped on this record quicker and harder then anyone could have imagined! Look for this to make waves!”
Reuben is currently touring the country in support of Hindsight, and will join the See Spot Rock Tour next spring.
