Skillet records first live DVD

Ardent Records’ top rock band Skillet recently recorded its first DVD, Alien Youth: The Unplugged Invasion, live before a studio audience at the world famous Ardent Studios in Memphis. Featuring completely new unplugged acoustic versions of some of the band’s best-known songs, the DVD, releasing November 19, will also include a gallery of photos taken at the Unplugged concert as well as a Bible study and Q&A session with band member John Cooper covering such topics as peer pressure, divorce, and mainstream music.

Executively produced by industry legend, Dana Key, the project boasts the hits from the band’s best-selling and critically acclaimed recording, Alien Youth, including: the album’s title track, the first #1 song from the album; “You Are My Hope,” the band’s first ever CHR #1 single and #4 overall CHR song of 2001; “One Real Thing,” the band’s second CHR single from Alien Youth to break the Top 5, peaking at #2; and the current #2 and climbing rock single, “Kill Me, Heal Me.” The DVD further includes the #1 song, “Best Kept Secret,” as well as the previously released music video, from Skillet’s 2000 release, Invincible.

“Skillet has recorded tremendous arrangements of some of their best-loved songs for this DVD,” says Dana Key, Ardent Records’ director of A&R. “The project showcases the band’s captivating live presence, as well as their exceptional musicianship and heart for ministry.”

“DVDs produced in this market are seldom stand alone projects, but rather a secondary thought,” adds Hugh Robertson, who handles marketing for Ardent Records. “Skillet has taken the path less traveled planning this DVD to be a special project that its fans will enjoy and that shows another side of their music and ministry.”

Alien Youth: The Unplugged Invasion was recorded in one of the world’s best-known recording houses, Ardent Studios, and mixed in Dolby® Digital 5.1 surround sound. Skillet joins a long list of celebrities who have recorded at the facilities, including Led Zeppelin, Cracker, ZZ Top, 3 Doors Down, .38 Special, REM, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Gin Blossoms, B. B. King, and many others.
