Joy Williams scores multi-format #1 hit with Hide

Joy Williams’ record-breaking hit song “Hide” seals the No. 1 spot this week across multiple formats, landing atop both Billboard’s Hot Christian Adult Contemporary and Hot Christian Singles and Tracks charts and R&R’s AC Indicator and CHR charts.  Further, this blockbuster lead single off new album Genesis spends its second No. 1 week on CRW’s CHR chart. 

“Hide” began its impressive run at radio with an unprecedented first week, claiming 47 out-of-the-box adds on the Christian AC format, setting all-time records on both R&R Indicator and CRW AC charts.  This was an outstanding 60 percent more adds than any previous record holder.

Already hitting the 10,000 spin mark, Williams’ proven audience-winning song is also this month’s recipient of the Nielsen BDS Certified Christian Spin Award for outstanding Christian radio airplay achievement. 

While garnering radio success, Williams has been connecting with audiences on the road, visiting high-impact markets on her 20-city promotional tour in support of Genesis.  She’s also gearing up for a jam-packed fall schedule, with major tour plans being finalized.  Details are forthcoming.

Genesis marks the third album release for Joy Williams.  She launched her career as a songwriter and vocalist at age 17.  Her previous albums released to date include the 2001 debut Joy Williams and 2002’s By Surprise which included the No. 1 single “Every Moment.”  In 2002 she was voted “Best New Artist” in CCM Magazine’s Readers Choice Awards.
