Kutless To Play At 2004 Summer Olympics
|
Tooth and Nail/BEC Recordings rock band KUTLESS will perform at this year’s
Summer Olympics in conjunction with IN THE BIBLE.com. Kutless will
play in Greece August 27th at the city center, “Omonia Square,” August 28th at
the base of the Acropolis in the shadow of Mars Hill, called “Monastiraki,” and
August 29th at “Koropi.” The first two shows are sponsored by the retail
and promotional support of Virgin Megastores and Metropolis Megastores.
These performances will also have an active radio presence through “on-air
reports” from the Olympics through KLOVE, Air-1 and the Effect Radio
Networks. For the third show on August 29th, Kutless will play for over
2,500 missionaries from around the world.
This performance at the Olympics will cap a busy spring and summer for
Kutless. Their second record, Sea Of Faces which released in
mid-February 2004, has sold 70,000 units to date according to Soundscan.
Kutless’ second single, “Sea Of Faces” broke into the Top 5 on CHR radio this
week, and the song is generating Kutless’ first AC interest as “Sea Of Faces” is
currently #14 on the AC charts after releasing 4 weeks ago.
A relentless touring band, Kutless completed their first headlining tour last
month with tour partner Thousand Foot Krutch. The X2004 and Thorn Clothing
Sea Of Faces Tour played 45 shows to an average attendance of 1,200. The
Sea Of Faces Tour eclipsed all expectations set by Third Coast Artist Agency and
promoters. Kutless will play 35 shows this summer and hit all major
festivals before retreating into the studio to begin pre-production for their
third record.
Kutless has been seen on the covers of CCM, 7Ball, and Interlinc’s YLO
Magazine, as well as features in various publications such as Christian Music
Planet. The story continues to follow the same trend at retail and
touring. John van der Veen, Music Buyer for the Family Christian
Store chain says, "Sea of Faces by Kutless is turning into one of
our biggest rock titles of the year. Their first record was such a solid
title for us that expectations for their sophomore record were high.
Sea of Faces not only met those expectations, but completely shattered
them. Top selling rock records are hard to find, and with the launch of Sea
of Faces, Kutless now has two!”
