Third Day signs music publishing deal with EMI CMG
|
Third Day has signed an exclusive copyright development & administration agreement with EMI Christian Music Publishing (EMI CMP), part of EMI CMG, announced Eddie DeGarmo, president of EMI CMP.
“I’ve been a fan of Third Day’s music for years, so it is an honor to represent their songs,” said DeGarmo. “Third Day is at the forefront of Christian rock and worship music and has built a catalog of some of the most important songs of their generation. There is a marvelous opportunity to place their music in new vehicles to develop their incredible songs. We look forward to working together with Third Day and their label, Essential Records, to maximize the potential of all the great songs they currently have and will write in the coming years.”
The new agreement covers worldwide publishing rights for all Third Day music starting with songs from the Offerings II record. Their current catalog of music stays with Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing. Third Day's songs will be included in EMI CMP’s extensive marketing of modern worship through worshiptogether.com, print initiatives and many other focused song development efforts. EMI CMP will also emphasize growing Third Day’s participation in film, television, advertising, games, and compilations.
“Our songs are the foundation of who we are as a band, so it is important that our publishing partner shares our passion and vision,” said Mac Powell, Third Day member and primary songwriter for the band. “Eddie DeGarmo, Rick Cua, Casey McGinty, and the team at EMI CMP have demonstrated a tremendous ability to broaden the reach and impact of Christian music songs and we are excited about their commitment to us.”
J. David Huffman, COO of Creative Trust, Inc., Third Day’s management company, added: "We are excited to partner Third Day with EMI CMP. CT has a strong history with EMI CMP’s entire team through our relationship with Steven Curtis Chapman. They are experts at expanding brands by reaching people with the message and artistry of music copyrights. We believe this to be another strategic moment in the building momentum around Third Day."
