The Evan Anthem signed as first artist to new label Mono vs. Stereo

Mono vs. Stereo, an EMI distributed independent label, has announced its formation and first artist signing.

“Mono vs. Stereo is focused on piercing the underground independent rock culture with relevant music,” says founder Brad Moist. “Recent rumors have surfaced in the music industry about our launch.”

“Yeah, rumors,” says Aaron Mars, a graphic artist who shares office space with the new label in Franklin, TN.

Continues Moist, “Rumors have circulated that the tiny staff behind this label have come from Gotee Records and that some initial support for Mono vs. Stereo has come from Gotee. I cannot deny, nor confirm these rumors -- though I can tell you two friends of mine financed our company. Consider them silent partners.”

“We have two goals,” explains Moist, whose actual title is Label Manager/A&R Director. “First, we want to release addictive music from bands that have the same passion and vision for rock and roll that we do. Secondly, we want to start a revolution and take over the world. In that order.”

The first release from Mono vs. Stereo will be the independent/unsigned band compilation dubbed The Revolution Will Begin In the Blink of an Eye, Vol. 1. The album will feature music from Matt Beckler, Andy Zipf, The Connotations, House of Heroes, Embraced, Johnny Come Lately, and Matthew Thiessen & The Earthquakes (the “solo” side project from the lead singer of Relient K). The compilation will also unveil Mono Vs Stereo’s first signing -- indie rock band, The Evan Anthem. The Revolution... will release nationwide on June 10.

"Witnessing the birth of this label has blossomed a new line of thinking for me and the people I love,” says Relient K’s Thiessen. “The revolution begins in the blink of an eye, and in the blink of my eye, I realize that with all of the political turmoil of the current times, who better to take over the world than a new indie record label? Mono vs. Stereo has my blessing."

As the first band signed to Mono vs. Stereo, The Evan Anthem, which hails from Hanover, PA, has been relentlessly touring most of the past year. “The Evan Anthem is the type of band that needs to be signed by the best label the music industry has to offer,” said a Senior A&R Director in the EMI system, who wished to remain unnamed. “It looks like Mono vs. Stereo could be that label. The Evan Anthem is a phenomenal flagship band I wanted to sign, but Brad Moist beat me to the punch.”

“Their sound is enticingly unique and their live show is undeniably creative,” states Moist. They recently wrapped up recording sessions for their debut album (currently untitled) with producer Mark Lee Townsend (Relient K), which will hit stores in September of this year. “At Mono vs. Stereo we want to take underground independent music and make it more readily available,” says Moist. “We’re focused, and we’ve established the ‘inch wide, mile deep philosophy’ as the basis for all of our marketing planning. The bands we will be working with spend their touring time in clubs, and that is where our focus will be as well.”
