by Brenten Gilbert

As the week rolls on, we say farewell to a few of our journaling artists and simultaneously welcome one of Southern Gospel's hottest groups to the fold. Today's journals include another offering from Pivitplex and a day during GMA Week brought to you by Hope's Call.

Enjoy.

Tuesday April 4, 2006

Although today was fairly busy, it seemed pretty casual compared with the last few days. That was probably due to the fact that we didn't have a showcase, which obviously eased the pressure a little bit. We spent the first half of the day in interviews promoting our new album and our reality TV show. By far, the question we were most often asked was "What's it like having cameras following you all the time?" We tried to explain that is actually a pretty good lesson in accountability, as you are constantly aware that people are (or will be) watching you. The funny part is God sees everything anyway, so a camera shouldn't really change the way we act at all. We found out that, initially, we did act differently. That realization was a small epiphany for all of us, and we feel it's a truth worth sharing.

Our run of interviews lasted until 3:30, so we got to go home early which was really nice. I used the time to break out a few tools and do some real hefty work. I had an audio cord that had a short in it, so I fixed it right up. It felt really good to accomplish that task, as it had been on my to-do list for a long time. But that doesn't have much to do with GMA. I just thought you might want to know.

To round out the day, my wife and I ventured back into the city to catch a few showcases. Although I didn't get to catch all of it, I was amazed by the show that The Listening put on. We've been fans of theirs for a long time, but they just keep getting better. Way to go.

Well, tomorrow is the last day of GMA, so I hope we make it count.

Just wanted to share a little word from Hope's Call about our GMA Week experience...Wow...What an opportunity...We sang on our first GMA Late Night Showcase...We met so many awesome people...And as I sit here in the studio where we are cutting tracks for our new album...I am reflecting on this week and what opportunity means...In one way this week could be thought of as the "opportunity" for exposure for the group. I mean there we were among the "Who's Who" of Christian music...It was amazing to sit at a Compassion Dinner with THE Michael W. Smith...To sing on a showcase with so many other artists that we admire so much!...But, what was true opportunity amidst all the excitement was something so much BIGGER. It was the opportunity to Grow...to Learn...and to Nuture relationships...Relationships not for Hope's Call (although God sure blesses us through them)...but for the furthering of the only ONLY reason we all met in Nashville this week! Jesus...His Kingdom...His LOVE...His Life...His EXPOSURE...In all reality...that is the ONLY exposure that matters...The experience was GREAT....I hope we can always remember what it is about...and MOST of all...Who it is about! GMA week was great...The music was AWESOME...The people were super and whether they were new artists or seasoned pros...We loved how so many just Shined...Not for themselves...But cause our God is GREAT...and they wanted to sing it....to shout it!....It was a GREAT week for exposure! Go GOD!!!

More tomorrow, stay tuned.
