Jesus Christ is the Only Way

"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them." - 2 Timothy 3:1-5

Just recently I received an email questioning some image content in one of our music videos – ‘Cry Holy’. The video was shot in and contained scenes of people worshiping other gods in contrast to people worshiping Jesus Christ. Most of the scenes were actually shot right there while we were filming me playing my guitar along on the Ganges river, a religious icon for the Hindu faith. The writer was wondering if we condoned the worshiping of other gods to get to heaven and if we believed that there could be many ways to have eternal peace. I of course wrote back immediately saying ‘No! We believe that there is only One Way to the Father in Heaven and it’s through His Son – Jesus Christ!’ And that the only reason we included the footage of the religious rituals to other gods was to give perspective…the perspective of having a real relationship with the Living God verses serving 33 millions gods out of fear that they might harm you or your family if you don’t appease them. Thinking that this person would be satisfied with this explanation, I moved right on to other business. The very next day however, I got another email from the same individual explaining that ‘no one knows for sure what to believe’ and that ‘we are all speculating’ and that ‘we all have our own interpretations of the Bible and that our individual experiences either prove the Bible right or wrong.’ Then, in order to solidify their argument, they began to quote the Bible, the Buddha and K'ung Fu-tzu (Confucius). Houston we have a problem!

Yes - we do have a problem!!!  All these religious ideas and theories may seem so harmless or good on the outside but unfortunately have NO SUBSTANCE… ‘Find truth within yourself’ is what the world is saying as loud as ever and everybody wants to buy into that way of thinking because then - no one is held accountable for anything. It seems that everybody is making their own path to eternal peace the best way they know how and they believe they are entitled to do this because the world is saying that ‘truth is relative’. Where is the voice of the one crying out in the desert these days saying ‘make straight the way of the Lord!’?  Where is the voice of God’s people saying ‘Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father, the ONLY truth that is eternal’?  Where’s the conviction? … there is none!!!

There’s no conviction, so there’s no repentance because the world thinks that we can make our own religion. Our own little custom-made gods to think the way we think, that we aren’t that bad. So everywhere we turn (even in our churches) we see a form of religion or a form of godliness but completely devoid of the saving power of Jesus. The power of the Good News is that Jesus is God’s Son and that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and NO MAN comes to the Father except through His Son – Jesus Christ!

Prayer for the Week:  Dear Father in Heaven, thank you that You have made known that we can be with You now forever because of the sacrifice of Your Son - Jesus. Thank You for the power of the blood that Your Son has shed so that we can be set free from the sin in our lives that separates us from You. Lord, bring conviction to this world through the proclamation of Your Word so that Your Kingdom may flourish and grow. You said that “if you love Me, you will keep my commands,” so be my strength to live in accordance with Your commands. I long to please Your heart with all that I do, with all that I think, with every breath. May Your love flow through me and may I shine like the stars in this dark world. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
