Rules on Rules
People want to pick and choose what they believe. You cannot pick and choose which rules you want to obey or not. The book of Leviticus presents us with many regulations and rules, all of which are to make us pure and holy in the presence of the ultimate Holiness. The point of the book itself is to show division of the holy and unholy, clean and unclean. These laws gave way for unholy humans to be able to commune with a Holy and pure God. We are called to distinguish ourselves between the "holy and the common, between the unclean and the clean."
I grew up following most of these regulations, making sure my life was completely 'kosher'. But I did it all for the wrong reasons. Staying away from meat, jewelry, and even alcohol didn't make me a better Christian. We sometimes get so caught up in the legalistic aspect of things that we forget why we no longer have to practice these sacrifices and go through these notions before coming into the presence of God.
The new covenant presents us with a beautiful hope: Christ's blood covers all this.

When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! (Hebrews 9:11-14)

He is the High Priest who fulfilled all of these requirements. We can now have the presence of God as completely clean individuals. By covering ourselves with Christ's blood, we are made holy, we are made clean.
As you go through this week, find ways to set yourself apart. Make sure you differentiate from the clean and unclean. Go about your day knowing that you can now commune with God and personally come to Him because Jesus' love allowed Him to make the ultimate sacrifice so you would no longer have to.
