Artist Devotional: Sivion

Scripture: Psalms 105:1-4 (NIV)

"Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell all of his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always."

First off let me say, as far as scripture goes, I'm a Psalms "junkie". Not sure the exact author of this particular one, but just like many of the other Psalms of David, the character of Christ is shown generations prior to his birth. When I read them, I instantly get charged with a new sense of humility and desire to decrease so that God can increase in me through my relationship with Christ.

As an artist, I often wonder if my music really expresses my love for the Lord and the thankfulness that I have in my heart for the grace he has given me, even though I truly don't deserve it. Yet the Lord always brings people into my path to provide me with encouragement for how my music DOES affect them in that way; and that they CAN see and hear how thankful I really am when I perform.

People always ask me how I approach the plan for my witnessing. Plan? I don't have a plan or a strategy. My only strategy is to seek Christ as he leads me into stronger fellowship and right-standing with God the Father. As long as I am seeking him, he leads the people that I need to witness to into my path and me into theirs. And then we all rejoice when we can see what wonderful thing the Lord has done for us, as we each help to provide encouragement and direction to one another.
