Tri-City Singers to record new live album in Charlotte, NC
|
EMI Gospel is proud to announce the November 10, 2001, live recording of an
all-new and-as always, definitive-collection of songs from gospel trend-makers Donald Lawrence & the Tri-City Singers. To be recorded before
an audience of the group's high-energy, hometown faithful in Charlotte, NC, the recording, which will take place at the University Park Baptist Church comes hot on the heels of Tri-City's best-selling offering to date, the highly acclaimed and richly awarded Tri-City4.com, released in February 2000. That landmark work not only took up extended residence last year at the top of Billboard Magazine's Gospel Music chart, with smash hits like "Never Seen the Righteous," but also yielded the huge, crossover single, "Testify," which, bearing the driving, can't-sit-still imprimatur of dance remix wizard Junior Vasquez, brushed against the Top 10 of Billboard's Dance chart as well, in a feat unattained even by many of Tri-City's R&B contemporaries.
The upcoming recording, to be titled Go Get Your Life Back will be released in late-February, 2002, and will feature dynamic and dramatic guest
appearances by a number of modern gospel greats, including Walter Hawkins and Ann Nesby (formerly of Sounds of Blackness). With Tri-City4.com still selling strong, Donald and the 35-voice choir, and its star-studded array of guests, are nonetheless gearing up to once again take gospel
music -- and music lovers of all categories and definitions -- a bold, breathtaking step beyond what even seasoned Tri-City fans might anticipate.
