SONICFLOOd
With over 1 ½ million records sold, pioneering modern worship and GRAMMY© nominated band, SONICFLOOd announces the release of their new studio project with ten original songs, This Generation (INO Records), on March 8, 2005.
Frontman Rick Heil hopes that this project will encourage people to remember that God’s heart is truly good, “This Generation is a proclamation to all generations to fulfill what we were all created for—to worship God. Although it is a simple concept, during difficult circumstances we tend to doubt God’s heart.”
Understanding God’s goodness is something Heil has experienced recently as he rejoices over being healed from Crohn’s disease, a painful intestinal disorder he’s lived with for years. Those diagnosed with this disease normally struggle with it for life; yet, last March Heil underwent treatment and surgery when doctors discovered he no longer had any signs of the disease to treat.
For many years, Heil praised God through his pain, and he’s thrilled to celebrate that the Lord has given him back his health. No matter how he’s doing physically, however, Heil knows it’s easy to give in to doubt, to believe that God doesn’t have our best interests at heart. That is where the concept behind This Generation was birthed.
“I think worship is the strongest tool we have in fighting those negative messages,” Heil says. “You are what you’re filled with. The great thing about music is it is always available. If you feel overwhelmed by this life, you can crank up the tunes and let the Lord minister to you and get refocused.”
Creating a project to refuel people, SONICFLOOd teamed up with three different producers, Marc Byrd (City On A Hill: The Gathering), Jim Cooper (Building 429, Across the Sky) and Dan Muckala (Mandy Moore, Joy Williams). In addition Heil teemed up with Cooper and Regie Hamm for the track “The Prodigal Song,” which is a reminder of how much God loves us. The song, “Your Love Goes On Forever,” clearly states the theme behind this CD, “For all You’ve done/ And your infinite love/ We lift our hearts to worship/ For Your sweet grace/ We lift Your name/ Let Your praise go on and on forever more.”
“People underestimate this generation,” Heil says. “We want to bring the truth and what’s real. Our enemy is hard at work. There’s no time to play around.” That kind of passion permeates throughout every Sonicflood concert and is appealing to every age group, as is reflected in their concert attendance. On his journey to gather this generation together, Rick traveled to India with the International Missions Board in 2004 by special invitation to tape a music video for SONICFLOOd’s hit song, “Cry Holy.” This video was created for The Task program to introduce missions to youth, showing opportunities to serve. This video is currently on TheTask.org web page and used worldwide to stress the importance of missions. A limited edition bonus CD containing the video, along with footage from the taping in India, and screensavers will be included with the release of This Generation.
SONICFLOOd has received a GRAMMY© nomination, along with two Dove Awards, and numerous no. 1 radio hits including “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever” and “I Want to Know You.” Their busy schedule this year will not only take them across America, but to Brazil, Australia, Singapore, and South Africa reaching over 1 million people.
