 Chris Taylor
 Biography

Few artists combine the passion and fervor of street preacher with lyrical insight of a poet. Chris Taylor is s storyteller and his unabashed transparency about his own condition makes us twinge with shame and yet draws us closer in. This drawing in comes from his unique ability to slip these prophetic gems into the mix in the middle of a pop anthem or a folk ditty that slips off the tongue and into the heart. Following on the heels of his critically acclaimed award wining recording Down Goes the Day, Taylor offers up what may well be his musical defining moment. Full of radio friendly rock and folk, Worthless Pursuit stands poised to capture CHR and Rock radio. Secret comes out of the shoot rocking with a vengeance (remember Chris's early Love Coma days?) but then settles into a delightfully friendly postcard from the strange and beautiful world of Chris Taylor. With Rick Elias and Mark Robertson of Ragamuffin fame at the production helm, this recording captures 30 years of the rock and role legacy with such loving care that literally no one is left out of the musical equation. There is something here for everyone. From the gritty solid drumming of Aaron Smith (Charlie Peacock, 77's, Rick Elias, Ragamuffins) to the celestial ambient guitar work of Jimmy Abegg (Vector, Charlie Peacock) and the amazing guitar and keyboard work of Rick Elias, Worthless Pursuit truly captures Chris's brokenness, tenderness, reckless abandon, and pure sense of fun. Mark Robertson (Ragamuffins, This Train, Under Midnight) co-produced the recording with Rick Elias and the results are musically extraordinary. Following in the steps of many in the post-Americana, roots movement, Worthless Pursuit paints songs with such a wide colorful palette that emotions run wide and deep in the release. But in the end, it is the story of a young man caught in the delightfully confusing modern world where faith and humanity often collide. This collision is more than memorable, it is prophetic. Those words must be used sparingly but in this case they apply.
