Building on the firm foundation laid by their successful self-titled debut, sisters Lauren, Racquel, and Rachel Smith return with a smashing sophomore release. Extending beyond the dance-pop territory mined on their first effort, Aurora reaches further into the funky urban/R&B beats currently dominating the airwaves, popularized by such megastars as Destiny's Child, Britney Spears, and Jessica Simpson. From the first notes of the album, it is clear that Aurora has been honing their craft both vocally and musically. Produced by Nick Trevisick (Mandy Moore, Natalie Imbruglia, The Rembrants), John & Dino Elefante (Natalie Grant), and Chris Omartian, the album finds Aurora reaching new heights as artists, and in the process ensuring a new level of communication in their ministry to their fans. Some of Christian music's top songwriters were enlisted for this project, including Jeremy Bose and Paul Evans (Jaci Velasquez' #1 hit "Every Time I Fall"), Dad'ra Crawford Greathouse of Anointed (Rachael Lampa's #1 hit "Shaken"), and Jeff and Gayla Borders (Amy Grant's "Irresistible Love"). Lyrical topics include sharing the love of God to others ("Turn It Around"), living in the strength of Christ ("Go On"), and the modern praise and worship anthem "Rekindle The Flame." With a solid sophomore album, a year of touring experience under their belts, and a schedule booked solid with promotional opportunities and concerts this fall, Aurora is poised to find widespread acceptance with this new effort. |
